I watched this movie last night. I really wasn't expecting much more than a movie filled with scenes of shirtless men doing things that strippers do. I was actually pleasantly surprised. It's not just a movie with a whole bunch of nudity. Magic Mike is actually a really nice story.
What I liked most about the movie is it was not sugar coated at all. It seemed to give a real and raw look at the lives of male strippers including the sleeping around and drug use, among other things.
I would definitely recommend this movie. It's very entertaining but at the same time has a really good story line in it. Although, I don't think straight males will particularly enjoy this movie.

I felt exactly the same way about this movie. I was thinking it would just be about a bunch of gorgeous men dancing around (which I wouldn't mind), but I was also pleasantly surprised to see it had a back-story to go with it. I'd recommend this movie to others as well, even to men. I had a few guys I work with at DISH go see the movie with me back when it was in theaters, and they actually didn't mind sitting through it because of the story-line outside of the dancing. I really enjoyed the movie for what it was in theaters, so I'll definitely have to check it out again soon. I've added to the top of my Blockbuster @Home queue, so I'll watch it again in the next couple of days. I heard the Blu-ray version has some extended dancing scenes, so I'm looking forward to checking that out! :)
